RAPTOR® composite fasteners are more delicate than metal fasteners and must be handled and used with care and precision to obtain the best performance. Follow these guidelines for best results.
Loading The Magazine
Install the RAPTOR® pack into the magazine and carefully close the magazine and gently engage the feed spring mechanism. Do not slam the magazine shut or allow the spring to impact the nail or staple pack.
Air Requirements
Always use a compressed air system with a filter, dryer and regulator. Most RAPTOR® fasteners require typical air pressure of 90 - 100 psi.
Safety
Use a tool with a safety on the firing mechanism. Wear approved safety glasses. Do not run finger along points of nails -- they are sharper than metal nails!
Tool Operation
Hold tool firmly and steadily on the surface to be fastened and trigger fire. Do not allow nailer to bounce off of the surface or move laterally during fire. Using pnuematic tools with RAPTOR® composite fasteners requires more technique than with metal nails.
Recommended Woods / Materials
Nails: RAPTOR® nails are ideal for softwoods, most plastic and some aluminum applications. RAPTOR® nails work for some hardwood applications.
Staples: RAPTOR® staples can penetrate many hardwoods including red oak.
